The Town of Peterborough participates in FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Community Rating System (CRS) where the Town receives points for certain floodplain management activities and in return, residents and businesses receive an insurance discount on their premiums. The Town of Peterborough is currently considered a Class 8 community which translates to a 10% discount on premiums
. Activity 510 of the CRS, which is also referred to as a floodplain management annual progress report, has been completed as of Wednesday, December 27, 2023. This annual progress report reviews the level of progress made on certain floodplain and hazard mitigation goals set forth in the previous year and provides information on any new mitigation efforts.
