Adams Park
Within the confines of Adams Park are a number of recreational amenities to enjoy.  There are two softball fields and a Cal Ripken-sized baseball field, a skate park, four tennis courts which also serve as eight pickleball courts, a basketball court, two gazebos, two Ga-Ga pits, Adams Pool, Adams Playground, and the Peterborough Recreation Department headquarters.  We also have a new bike "pump track" available behind the tennis courts.

         1) The area is not cleaned outside of normal measures and it is not sanitized. Cautiously play at your own risk.
         2) Hand sanitizing stations are at the three entrances.
         3) If you are not feeling well, please do not come and play. Wait until you feel better - for your sake as well as for the sake of others.
         4) Face masks are highly recommended. Wear one when social distancing is not possible.
         5) Stay at least 6 feet away from others when possible.
         6) If it looks like it is getting crowded, please come back on another day/time.
         7) Caregivers are responsible for supervising children and making sure guidelines are followed.
         8) Please wash hands before and after playing at the Playground.
         9) Bring your own water bottles.  The water fountains are not operational due to COVID-19.

The gazebos are available first come-first served.  If you would like to rent a gazebo (two hour minimum), you are guaranteed its availability for your use.
Gazebo Rental Rates = $20/hour- private rental; $15/hour- non-profit fundraiser; $25/hour- commercial use.

When our schedule permits, the meeting room adjoining the Recreation Office at 64 Union Street may be rented as follows: $25/hour- private rental; $20/hour- non-profit fundraiser; $35/hour- commercial use.

Adams Pool underwent a tremendous renovation in 2013.  Features include a covered spiral slide into the pool; stairs into the pool for a more gradual entry; a hydraulic Hoyer lift; a diving board; and a zero-depth splash pad with numerous spraying apparatus.

Adams Pool is usually open from the last day of public school to the second or third week of August, depending on staff availability.

Marshall-Thomas Recreation Area
When the Marshall-Thomas Recreation Area at Cunningham Pond was donated to the town, the residents voted at Town Meeting to allow access to Peterborough residents and their guests only.*  The pond is a "swim at your own risk" facility.

Pets are allowed on the grassy area or the boat ramp area of the pond.  Pets must be on a leash when not swimming and are not allowed on the beach.

Cunningham Pond 2021 non-resident Waiting List:
While it is too soon to know how the CDC and State COVID-19 guidelines will impact the use of Cunningham Pond this summer, we were taking names (from January through May 5th) for a limited list of non-residents who would like to purchase Cunningham Pond stickers, with no financial transaction at this time.  This does not guarantee stickers will become available for 2021, due to COVID restrictions and guidelines.  Once a decision is made, registrants on the waiting list will be quickly notified. Payment would be due within two weeks of the announcement of the Cunningham Pond opening plans.
