Peterborough Renewable Energy Planning (PREP) Team Offers PREP Talks!
Who couldn’t use a good PREP Talk in times like these—and some renewable energy to get us through the day? The Peterborough Renewable Energy Planning (PREP) Team was created following passage of Article 11 at this year’s town meeting, by which voters committed the town to transitioning to 100% renewable sources of energy for electricity by 2030 and for other energy consumption, such as heating and transportation, by 2050. The PREP Team is charged with developing an initial plan to achieve those goals. To do that, we need to hear from all members of the Peterborough community. 
One way for you to let us know your thoughts, ideas, questions, and concerns about these ambitious goals is to attend any of a series of gatherings that we are calling PREP Talks. They’re just conversations among groups of citizens, including members of the PREP Team, that we hope will ensure that our plan is responsive to your needs.

Peterborough Renewable Energy Planning Team (PREP)

Public Works:
Driveway sand is available for the public at the Highway Garage by the front entrance gates.  Buckets of sand for personal use only.

Town Budget: What exactly goes into maintaining the roads each year? Why is timing so important when estimating costs of municipal projects, and what projects are on the horizon? What town programs and services are expected to ‘pay for themselves’? The joint Select Board/Budget Committee meetings will be held weekly on Tuesdays at the Town House Select Board room for the duration of the process. The meetings are broadcast live (technology permitting) on Comcast Channel 22, Ustream (link below), and YouTube, and are also recorded and available for later viewing on Ustream. Attending these meetings, whether in-person or virtually, provides residents and taxpayers with valuable insight into the mechanics and nuances of municipal budgeting, and allows them to consider the issues, both big and small, before it comes time to vote on the warrant at Town Meeting. The annual Town budget is one of the 4 budgets that goes into the total tax bill each year (the others being school district, county, and state education budgets).

Those who are interested in how the Town budget is created are strongly encouraged to observe the process and ask questions.

2022 Zoning Amendments
The Planning Board is putting forward a handful of proposed zoning amendments for this year’s Town Meeting. Anyone interested is encouraged to review those proposals and contact Danica Melone in the Office of Planning & Building with any questions or concerns at or (603) 924-8000 ext 116. Affordable Housing Subcommittee of the EDA is Official
The Affordable Housing Subcommittee of the EDA has been made official at the recent Select Board meeting and the Subcommittee is seeking members to fill the remaining seats: there are 4 full-member seats and 2 alternate seats currently available. For information about the Subcommittee’s Mission & Goals, visit their page on the Town website.

Interested persons are welcome to submit a Volunteer Application to the Office of Planning & Building by emailing or mailing Danica Melone at or 1 Grove St, Peterborough, NH 03458. All appointments of new members to the Subcommittee must be done through the EDA at one of the EDA’s regular meetings. Danica will forward Volunteer Applications to the EDA and confirm when your application will be reviewed for appointment. Attendance at the EDA meetings for your Subcommittee appointment is not required but always encouraged.

Branding the Region Survey
The Greater Keene and Peterborough Chamber of Commerce has launched a regional survey aimed at creating a regional brand. The questionnaire has been carefully crafted to determine the Monadnock Region’s strengths, weaknesses, challenges and opportunities. All who live and/or work in the Monadnock Region are invited and encouraged to participate in this important community-wide initiative. It also has the side effect of stirring some regional pride and strengthening ties with our younger residents. Take the survey here:
